Yesterday I wrote about how hard it is to delete an account from Facebook, which poses security issues. Today I'd like to do a little bit of a Facebook revelation. Most people under 50 in the English-speaking world have at least heard of Facebook and some know the name of the creator, Mark Zuckerberg. It's a social networking site that sold 1.6% to Microsoft for a billion dollars. Many are under the impression Facebook is the biggest of its type in the world. But let's compare it with China's QQ.com. Facebook has 60million members, QQ 300 million. While Facebook lost money last year, QQ turned over USD$523 million and made a profit of USD$224. Facebook tries to make money selling ads, while only 13% of QQ's revenue came from that channel the rest came from selling digital services like online games, background music and themes. People in the western hemisphere really should keep an eye on what's happening in Asia - there's some amazing development happening there.
