I've had an iPhone for a couple of weeks now. This certainly isn't the best phone I've ever had, but I love it. I love the functionality, the design, the features and the layout. Back in the late 1970's Steve Jobs (the man behind Apple) revolutionised the design of computers. He turned the existing notion of a pile of circuit boards into a sexy, small design element that actually worked. Apple has always been visionary and I think what they've done with the iPhone will change the entire computer industry. There are some major design elements that I predict will be commonplace in the not-to-distant future - providing the developers of operating system software can keep up. The minimalist icons make the functionality easy; 3D views to make the computer more "lifelike" and, most importantly, the touch screen totally changes the way the user interacts with the computer. Currently the way we set up our desktop makes using touchscreens unworkable, but in 3 years we'll be sitting at "architect desks" on 45 degree slopes with everything laid out in front of us. Even though I am very much a PC fan, I have to admit Apple does a great job in revolutionising technology.
