Did you know there are a network of cables lying on the sea beds around the world? These cables allow people all over the planet to connect to the internet and to enjoy the benefits of internet commerce, real-time news and all the other goodies that the net offers. A little while ago a ship's anchor accidentally cut two of these cables while near Egypt. As a consequence 85 MILLION people from Egypt to India and in parts of Asia had their internet connection affected. This would have impacted badly on India whose newly developing IT industries rely heavily on this cable network.
