Just remember kids: spam doesn't pay. Two American men were jailed for more than five years and fined more than a million dollars for promoting and managing a spam business that proliferated the distribution of pornographic material. They also had sentences imposed for lesser crimes including fraud, and obscenity. The long running pornography business was estimated to have received more than a million dollars in revenue. The business made money by spamming inboxes (often with explicit pornographic images) and receiving a commission from any sign-up to the hardcore porn sites they were promoting. Despite trying to disguise the operations of their company by moving bank accounts offshore and trying to make it look like the emails originated from outside the USA, the two men were hunted down in Arizona.
