Many hackers develop malicious software to install on the computer's of victims. The malicious software, also known as malware, can be configured to run automatically, relaying back details and data to the hacker's computer which he can then analyse and develop into a profile with the intention of stealing personal information, or maybe turning the victim's PC into a drone computer used for sending spam around the world without the knowledge of the victim. This kind of software is called botnets and one of the biggest and most comprehensive botnets in the world is called the Kracken botnet, which has infected thousands and thousands of computers around the world. However, computer security researchers have discovered a way of wresting control of computers infected by the botnet, thereby reducing the potency of the botnet. Internet users are reminded they should install and regularly update their internet security software (we recommend ZoneAlarm) to prevent botnets from being installed in the first place.
