If you have friends browsing the internet on a computer made by Apple, tell them to watch out. Not long ago the Mac had just 3% market share of the US computer market but this has recently grown to 8%. Accordingly this has made the Mac more of a target for hackers and virus writers. Recently a trojan (so named because of how they act similar to the ancient Greek story) has been infecting Macs browsing the web. Web surfers browsing what they think is an innocent website are redirected to one impregnated with viruses. The viruses then install on the Mac and basically opens a channel by which the hackers can access personal information and passwords. Another possibility is that the hacker might make the Mac a robot for sending spam emails, which might slow down the performance of the computer and reduce the speed of the internet connection. The moral of the story is that the Mac is no longer able to claim the moral high ground in the virus struggle - the Mac is now just as susceptible to viruses as PCs running Windows.
