Even though Yahoo has come out publicly and rejected Microsoft's offer to buy the company, Microsoft is still confident things are moving forward. Apparently the software giant (known for an operating system riddled with bugs and security flaws) has sent a letter to staff indicating that Microsoft is hopeful of having an acquisition letter in place with Yahoo by the end of 2008. Yahoo (the world's second largest search engine company) recently rejected a bid of USD$44.6 BILLION from Microsoft, stating that they believed the bid was too low. The two companies overlap quite a bit and both have spent millions on improving their search offerings for the consumer. How this overlap could be turned around for the integration of the two companies to be successful is a whole other question. But if Microsoft has its way the two will be closely connected very soon.
