Yesterday I explained, in very broad terms, what drive-by-downloads are. Today I'm going to let internet users around the world into a little secret. There is a way to protect against this particularly virulent new threat to computer security. ZoneAlarm Forcefield has just been released, and to the best of my knowledge no other security product in the world protects against drive-by-downloads the way ZoneAlarm Forcefield does. The easiest way to explain how Forcefield works is to imagine wrapping your internet browser in a bubble. You can see through the bubble but no malicious software can get in. So, when you surf the web you're doing it inside a a bubble which means drive-by-downloads won't trouble you. You can surf websites that might attempt to install software onto your computer, but they won't get far. A big warning will flash on your screen and the website will be reported to ZoneAlarm for further investigation. Nice.
