Every day I hear sad stories about people who had let their antivirus software expire or it wasn't kept up to date. Of course, the next thing they tell me is that they were surfing perfectly legitmate looking websites and then they realised their computer had a virus. Sometimes the symptoms don't show themselves for a while and sometime's they're hard to spot. But let's face it - if you don't have some form of antivirus or internet security installed you're just asking for trouble. Viruses have developed so quickly over the past few years that they're nothing like the types we saw only a few years ago. Not long back there were some massive outbreaks in the news that crippled businesses and cost industry millions. Just because we don't hear of these things in the nightly news, doesn't mean the threat has stopped. The threat is still there but now it's much more advanced and dangerous. It's a higher intelligence, if you will.
