You, as an individual, can help combat phishing scams, which seek to trick the public into giving out personal information for the purposes of obtaining some financial benefit. You can help cur the prevalence of such scams simply by alerting family and friends to the existence of the criminal activity when you become aware of them. You can also do some research and learn more about phishing, the types of scams that have been implemented in the past and what kind of indications might giveaway when a scam is underway. There is a plethora of websites with such good information and learning about security threats and how to protect yourself against them is the first step of not becoming a victim. Of course you can install ZoneAlarm Forcefield which is a brand new tool in the fight against phishing. It works by identifying whether or not a site has been reported as a dangerous or dubious site in the past and gives the internet surfer the opportunity to report a site should the user suspect that site is acting suspiciously (ie, trying something illegal).
