Internet Explorer 8, with security features?
10, July 2008
August 2008 should see the release of Microsoft's new Internet Explorer version 8. It's touted as the browser with security enhancements to try to stop the growing threat of phising, where unsuspecting internet surfers are lured into handing over their personal details through scams, cons and devious acts.
A lot of phishing scams appear as emails from banks where customers are asked to complete their account numbers to verify the account. The new "SmartScreen" that will appear in the IE8 browser is touted to protect against more sophisticated and targeted phishing, but if this release is anything like Microsoft's attempt at launching internet security (oneCare) then it will be a dismal failure.
ZoneAlarm's ForceField is the best way to implement browser security to prevent phishing scams.
