Trend towards website based security threats
28, July 2008
Over recent years the security threats to PCs have migrated from diskette and email attacks to threats that come solely from websites. Such attacks occur when the user of the computer surfs the net and visits a dangerous site.
Sites riddled with spyware and malware have been around for a few years now but more than ever this threat presents a clear and present danger. It is more common now for websites to be hijacked by hackers and other crminals and for these hijackings to leave the website filled by tiny pieces of malware, ready to infect visitors. The owners of the sites may never know. And what effect will this have on visitors?
Web surfers who do not have ZoneAlarm ForceField or something similar installed are risking having their computer infected with malware. The result could be that the computer is unknowingly turned into a spamming robot, or something worse. Check out ForceField and make sure you're protected.
